Naturalization & Citizenship

Becoming a U.S. citizen is one of the most significant milestones in an immigrant’s journey. SSF Law Firm guides lawful permanent residents through the naturalization process and helps families understand their citizenship rights.

Eligibility for Naturalization

Most lawful permanent residents (green card holders) may apply for naturalization after 5 years of continuous residence in the United States. Spouses of U.S. citizens may apply after 3 years. Additional requirements include physical presence, good moral character, English language proficiency, and knowledge of U.S. history and government.

The Naturalization Process

The naturalization process involves filing Form N-400, attending a biometrics appointment, completing an interview with a USCIS officer, passing the civics and English tests, and attending a naturalization ceremony. Our attorneys prepare clients thoroughly for each step, including mock interviews and test preparation.

Citizenship by Birth and Through Parents

Some individuals may already be U.S. citizens without knowing it — either by birth in the United States or through a U.S. citizen parent. Our attorneys help clients determine whether they may already be citizens and assist with obtaining Certificates of Citizenship (N-600) and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA).
