VAWA

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides a path to legal status for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking who are married to or are children of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. SSF Law Firm handles these sensitive cases with the utmost care and confidentiality.

Who Can File Under VAWA?

VAWA self-petitions are available to abused spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens, as well as abused spouses and children of lawful permanent residents. Importantly, VAWA petitions are filed confidentially — USCIS will not disclose the filing to the abuser. Both men and women may file VAWA petitions.

U Visas and T Visas

U visas are available to victims of certain crimes, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, who have suffered substantial abuse and are helpful to law enforcement. T visas are available to victims of severe forms of trafficking in persons. Both visas can lead to lawful permanent residence.
